Final Batik
Perspective project
For this project I chose to do 2nd point because I really liked how I could layer everything. I found this project very frustrating. Not because it was difficult, just because I had no motivation to do it. I had no idea as to what I was going to do, nothing that I thought of was working with the point I had chosen. Everything that I did think of was either to difficult to draw or didn't match my point. But other than that I liked the project.
Collagraph Project
This project was really fun, we started with making practice plates. We printed with those a few times just to get used to the process of printing. Then we had to move on to make our final design for the plate. We were able to use any material we wanted, and I chose to work with string. It was really fun and relaxing gluing the string down. After we got our design done we have to add a few layers of coating, so that the ink wouldn't leak through and ruin our design. Then after it was dried we just had fun printing intagleo and relief. I mostly stuck with the cool colors becauase I thought they looked better with my design. I didn't like the relief as much as the intagleo because it did really suit my design.
Realistic face drawing
This project was hard because we had to draw OURSELVES Realistically!!! It was very dificult getting everything lined up, and getting the sizes right. It was also dificult shadding everything to make it look realistic, and the hair was the hardest. Because you have to shade everything in the hair, but coming up with the symbols that go on your picture was sort of easy. I picked more personal things, like anger issues, social anxiety, and depression.
Final Project
I had a lot of fun while working on this project. I decided to do the batik design thing. I really liked piecing random things together to make cool designs, I did have a little trouble diciding what to do in the background because i've never been good at deciding what to do for the background. It was also really hard deciding what colors to paint the design, because i'm terrible at deciding what colors go with other colors.
Oil Pastel Abstract
We were given a sheet of paper with a list of steps to take before we were able to draw. After going through all the steps we were able to do whateever we wanted to the rest of the page. The first idea i got was leaves on a pond or floating on some water, but then i didn't like what I did so I changed it. I then started to cover the background, and other places I could find with random colors. Then I drew black lines over the top of some colors for them to pop more.
Alebrijes
This project was a little easy. Mine is supposed to be a mixture between an armadillo, raccoon, owl, pig, and rabbit. The hardest part while making this was kneading it together, and the easiest was making the body and head. It was a little hard smoothing everything out to. My favorite thing to do while making this was adding the rabbit ears. The pig legs didn't really stick on so I had to make a few adjustments. (Forgot to take picture after I was done.)
Close up realistic drawing
My drawing is supposed to look like a group of cherries. While drawing this I tried different techniques of shading in order to chose the one that look the best. The first cherry that I drew was the one behind the big one in the middle. With that one I chose to shade in the direction that the sides curved to, and personally it's my favorite. The second one that I drew was the one in the corner. I started it out like the one before, but then I added a layer of shading going around it in a circle. The last one that I drew was the one in the middle. I decided to just go in circles, and it's the one that I like the least. Then on the last one I started to repeat what I did on the first one. Cause I though that one was the best, and i'm going to us it on the rest of them.
Value Drawings
While drawing these I had to practice using value, tone, and texture. My before picture is more blank, than my after picture, because I didn't exatly know how to shade yet. I had to start out drawing the shapes, and then add in the shading afterwards on both of them. I started with the triangle on both of them, then went to the circle, and so on and so forth. The shading in my first one was very harsh, it didn't go the exact length of the atcual shadow, and wasn't shaded right. The shading in my second one was much better it was more darker than it should be in some places, but It looks pretty good.
Sketchbook
How we made this was first we had to make the inside cover. We had a sheet over paper, wax, salt, water, and paper. We started out making whatever disigns out of the wax, then we sprayed it with water. Then we took the colors of paint we chose, and just splattered it on the page. Then if you wanted to you could put some salt on it, so it would take in some of the paint, and create some cool designs. Then we had to make the case part. We had fabric, glue, a hole puncher, paper, and some kind of hard stuff. We had to measure everthing out, and glue everything down. Then we had to sew in the papers, and tie everything off.
